Principal's Message

Welcome, Phoenix Family! As we navigate through the second nine weeks of the school year, I want to express my gratitude to our students, parents, faculty, and staff for your hard work and dedication. Our theme, “Breaking Barriers,” continues to guide us as our students rise above challenges in both their GECHS and TAMIU coursework. This second nine weeks is a critical period in our academic calendar as we prepare for high school semester exams, upcoming STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) assessments, and TAMIU final exams. We encourage every Phoenix to maintain strong daily attendance, stay focused, and take full advantage of all academic supports. We also remind parents to routinely check UConnect to monitor their student’s TAMIU grades and stay aware of upcoming TAMIU final exam schedules. As we strive for excellence across all classes, please keep these key calendar dates in mind: Thanksgiving Break will provide a well-deserved time to rest and recharge right before our major testing period begins; Friday, December 18, 2026, will mark the last day of the second nine weeks and fall semester; Winter Break will run from Monday, December 21, 2026, through Friday, January 8, 2027; and students will return to campus on Monday, January 11, 2027. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and dedication to making GECHS such an extraordinary community—together, let’s continue breaking barriers and reaching new heights! — Phoenix Pride! — Mrs. Taboada, Principal, Hector J.
