We were honored to host a Veterans Day Recognition at GECHS, paying tribute to veterans from our school, district, and the broader community. Our students Rose Mary Rubi Matthews and Aaron Baxter spoke, while Natalia Loera gave a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. To show our support, students and staff dressed in red, white, and blue. Our keynote speaker, Sergeant Guadalupe Alvarez, inspired all with his message. Veterans were presented with a special Veterans pin, certificate, and a goodie bag containing heartfelt messages of gratitude from our students. GECHS students also donated additional goodie bags filled with tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, along with Warm Messages of Gratitude, to the Webb County Veterans Coalition.
